Hagalaz (ᚺ)
Leela Atlas team · Updated
Hail: what cannot be stopped.
Literal meaning: hail · Hagal's aett, the second group of eight
In the old rune poems
All three poems call hail a grain: the Old English one says it whirls from the sky and turns to water; the Norse ones call it the coldest grain.
Light side
Disruption that clears the ground: an event you did not choose that, once melted, waters something new.
Shadow side
Bracing against every storm, or blaming yourself for what was never in your control.
Drawing Hagalaz in a game of Leela
In Leela Atlas you can draw a card from the Elder Futhark runes when you land on a square. A bridging question links the card to the square, so the card speaks to your own question:
- What in your question is beyond your control, and what could grow once it has passed?
- What does "Hagalaz" show you about your square?
- If "Hagalaz" were advice for your question, what would it say?
- Where do you meet "Hagalaz" in your life right now?
