Splitting Apart 剝 Bō

Things are falling away; stay still, protect the core, and wait.

Trigrams: Mountain over Earth

The judgement

Things are splitting apart, and this is not a time to push forward. Let what is falling away fall, and wait.

The image

A mountain rests on the earth, worn down at its base. Those above secure their place by being generous to those below, strengthening the foundation.

Light side

Letting go of what is crumbling clears space for what is solid to remain.

Shadow side

Clinging to what is already lost, or acting in panic, only speeds the fall.

Drawing Splitting Apart in a game of Leela

In Leela Atlas you can draw a card from the I Ching when you land on a square. A bridging question links the card to the square, so the card speaks to your own question:

• What is falling away, and what foundation do you want to strengthen?
• What does "Splitting Apart" show you about your square?
• If "Splitting Apart" were advice for your question, what would it say?
• Where do you meet "Splitting Apart" in your life right now?
