Influence 咸 Xián

Open your heart and let mutual attraction work gently.

Trigrams: Lake over Mountain

The judgement

Mutual influence brings success. Steadiness furthers, and joining with another, as in a true courtship, brings good fortune.

The image

A lake rests on a mountain, its water nourishing the slope. The noble one receives others with an open, uncluttered heart.

Light side

Openness lets you feel and respond to others, and be truly moved.

Shadow side

Being swayed by every impulse, or trying to influence without being open, breaks the bond.

Drawing Influence in a game of Leela

In Leela Atlas you can draw a card from the I Ching when you land on a square. A bridging question links the card to the square, so the card speaks to your own question:

• Who or what is moving you here, and are you letting yourself be moved?
• What does "Influence" show you about your square?
• If "Influence" were advice for your question, what would it say?
• Where do you meet "Influence" in your life right now?
