Duration 恆 Héng

Stay constant in what matters; endurance brings lasting success.

Trigrams: Thunder over Wind

The judgement

Duration brings success without blame. Steadiness furthers, and having a clear direction keeps the movement alive.

The image

Thunder and wind, always moving yet always together. The noble one stands firm and does not change their direction.

Light side

Constancy in what matters lets something grow deep roots over time.

Shadow side

Mistaking rigidity for constancy can keep you stuck in an outdated form.

Drawing Duration in a game of Leela

In Leela Atlas you can draw a card from the I Ching when you land on a square. A bridging question links the card to the square, so the card speaks to your own question:

• What in your question deserves to be kept steady over the long run?
• What does "Duration" show you about your square?
• If "Duration" were advice for your question, what would it say?
• Where do you meet "Duration" in your life right now?
