The Clinging 離 Lí

Shine by holding to what is true; clarity grows from steady devotion.

Trigrams: Fire over Fire

The judgement

Clarity depends on what it clings to. Steadiness brings success, and caring for what is gentle and receptive brings good fortune.

The image

Brightness rises twice, like one sun following another. The great person carries this light onward and illuminates the four corners of the world.

Light side

Seeing clearly, and attaching yourself to what is true, lights the way for others.

Shadow side

Light that burns without fuel or care quickly flares up and fades.

Drawing The Clinging in a game of Leela

In Leela Atlas you can draw a card from the I Ching when you land on a square. A bridging question links the card to the square, so the card speaks to your own question:

• What do you need to cling to so that your clarity can last?
• What does "The Clinging" show you about your square?
• If "The Clinging" were advice for your question, what would it say?
• Where do you meet "The Clinging" in your life right now?
