Uruz (ᚢ)
Leela Atlas team · Updated
The wild strength of the body.
Literal meaning: aurochs, the wild ox · Freyr's aett, the first group of eight
In the old rune poems
The Old English poem praises the aurochs as fierce, proud and horned, a bold beast of the moors. The Norse poems read the name differently, as slag or drizzle.
Light side
Raw vitality: the energy of your body, your stamina, the untamed force that gets you up and carries you through.
Shadow side
Strength without direction becomes stubbornness or exhaustion; ignoring the body's signals drains the very force you rely on.
Drawing Uruz in a game of Leela
In Leela Atlas you can draw a card from the Elder Futhark runes when you land on a square. A bridging question links the card to the square, so the card speaks to your own question:
- What does your body already know about your question that your mind has not yet admitted?
- What does "Uruz" show you about your square?
- If "Uruz" were advice for your question, what would it say?
- Where do you meet "Uruz" in your life right now?
