Sowilo (ᛊ)

The sun: wholeness and victory.

Literal meaning: sun · Hagal's aett, the second group of eight

In the old rune poems

The Old English poem calls the sun the seafarers' hope over the sea; the Icelandic one, shield of the clouds and shining ray.

Light side

Clarity and vitality: you see the way, feel whole and act with confidence that comes from inside.

Shadow side

Too much light can blind: pride, burnout, or a need to win that leaves no room for others.

Drawing Sowilo in a game of Leela

In Leela Atlas you can draw a card from the Elder Futhark runes when you land on a square. A bridging question links the card to the square, so the card speaks to your own question:

• What would it look like to act on your question from your own inner light?
• What does "Sowilo" show you about your square?
• If "Sowilo" were advice for your question, what would it say?
• Where do you meet "Sowilo" in your life right now?
