Mannaz (ᛗ)
Leela Atlas team · Updated
A person among people.
Literal meaning: man, human being · Tyr's aett, the third group of eight
In the old rune poems
The Old English poem says a man in his joy is dear to his kin, yet all must part, for the body returns to earth. The Norse poems call man the increase of dust.
Light side
Self-knowledge among others: you see yourself honestly, mortal and connected, and you value the people around you.
Shadow side
Losing yourself in others' expectations, or isolating yourself as if you had to manage everything alone.
Drawing Mannaz in a game of Leela
In Leela Atlas you can draw a card from the Elder Futhark runes when you land on a square. A bridging question links the card to the square, so the card speaks to your own question:
- How do the people around you shape the way you see your question?
- What does "Mannaz" show you about your square?
- If "Mannaz" were advice for your question, what would it say?
- Where do you meet "Mannaz" in your life right now?
