Isa (ᛁ)
Leela Atlas team · Updated
Ice: stillness and pause.
Literal meaning: ice · Hagal's aett, the second group of eight
In the old rune poems
The Old English poem calls ice cold and slippery, gleaming like glass, a floor made by frost. The Norwegian one calls it a broad bridge.
Light side
Stillness that preserves: a pause in which you gather yourself, hold your centre and let things settle.
Shadow side
Frozen feelings or a situation stuck in place; coldness that keeps you safe but also alone.
Drawing Isa in a game of Leela
In Leela Atlas you can draw a card from the Elder Futhark runes when you land on a square. A bridging question links the card to the square, so the card speaks to your own question:
- Is the stillness in your question a rest you need, or a freeze you are avoiding?
- What does "Isa" show you about your square?
- If "Isa" were advice for your question, what would it say?
- Where do you meet "Isa" in your life right now?
