Ingwaz (ᛜ)

The seed: completion and a new start.

Literal meaning: the god Ing · Tyr's aett, the third group of eight

In the old rune poems

The Old English poem says Ing was first seen among the East Danes, then went east over the waves, his wagon following. Ing is often linked with Freyr.

Light side

Inner gestation: a cycle closing and energy gathering quietly, like a seed ready for its next beginning.

Shadow side

Holding potential so long that it never takes root, or ending things before they have ripened.

Drawing Ingwaz in a game of Leela

In Leela Atlas you can draw a card from the Elder Futhark runes when you land on a square. A bridging question links the card to the square, so the card speaks to your own question:

• What in your question is quietly completing itself, and what is waiting to begin?
• What does "Ingwaz" show you about your square?
• If "Ingwaz" were advice for your question, what would it say?
• Where do you meet "Ingwaz" in your life right now?
