The Well 井 Jǐng
Leela Atlas team · Updated
Return to the deep source that nourishes everyone, and keep it clear.
Trigrams: Water over Wind
The judgement
Towns may change, but the well does not. It neither runs dry nor overflows, and serves all who come, but only if the rope reaches deep enough and the bucket holds.
The image
Water rises up through wood, like a bucket drawn from a well. The noble one encourages people in their work and urges them to help one another.
Light side
Deep inner sources are always available if you reach down far enough.
Shadow side
Stopping short, or neglecting the well, leaves you thirsty beside the water.
Drawing The Well in a game of Leela
In Leela Atlas you can draw a card from the I Ching when you land on a square. A bridging question links the card to the square, so the card speaks to your own question:
- What deep source could you draw from to meet your question?
- What does "The Well" show you about your square?
- If "The Well" were advice for your question, what would it say?
- Where do you meet "The Well" in your life right now?
