Great Taming 大畜 Dà Chù

Gather and hold your strength; learning from the past builds power.

Trigrams: Mountain over Heaven

The judgement

Great taming means holding and storing strength with steadiness. Serving beyond your own home is fortunate, and even great undertakings can succeed.

The image

Heaven is held within the mountain. The noble one studies the words and deeds of the past to deepen and strengthen their character.

Light side

Restraint now gathers a large store of energy for the right moment.

Shadow side

Holding back too long can turn stored power into stiffness or frustration.

Drawing Great Taming in a game of Leela

In Leela Atlas you can draw a card from the I Ching when you land on a square. A bridging question links the card to the square, so the card speaks to your own question:

• What strength are you gathering now, and what is it ultimately for?
• What does "Great Taming" show you about your square?
• If "Great Taming" were advice for your question, what would it say?
• Where do you meet "Great Taming" in your life right now?
