Enthusiasm 豫 Yù

Let genuine joy inspire you and others, but keep your feet on the ground.

Trigrams: Thunder over Earth

The judgement

Enthusiasm that moves in harmony with others makes it possible to appoint helpers and set great undertakings in motion.

The image

Thunder bursts out of the earth and everything stirs. The ancient kings made music to honour merit and to bring hearts into one rhythm.

Light side

Your genuine joy and readiness can inspire others to move with you.

Shadow side

Enthusiasm without grounding can become self-indulgence or empty excitement.

Drawing Enthusiasm in a game of Leela

In Leela Atlas you can draw a card from the I Ching when you land on a square. A bridging question links the card to the square, so the card speaks to your own question:

• What do you feel truly enthusiastic about here, and who might share that rhythm?
• What does "Enthusiasm" show you about your square?
• If "Enthusiasm" were advice for your question, what would it say?
• Where do you meet "Enthusiasm" in your life right now?
