Contemplation 觀 Guān

Step back and observe; clear seeing guides the right action.

Trigrams: Wind over Earth

The judgement

Like a worshipper who has washed but not yet made the offering, stay in quiet sincerity. Your presence alone inspires trust in those who watch.

The image

Wind moves over the earth and touches everything. The ancient kings travelled the land, observed the people, and offered them guidance.

Light side

Stepping back to look clearly lets you see the whole and be seen in turn.

Shadow side

Endless observing can become a way of never acting or never being touched.

Drawing Contemplation in a game of Leela

In Leela Atlas you can draw a card from the I Ching when you land on a square. A bridging question links the card to the square, so the card speaks to your own question:

• If you look at your question from higher up, what do you see now?
• What does "Contemplation" show you about your square?
• If "Contemplation" were advice for your question, what would it say?
• Where do you meet "Contemplation" in your life right now?
