Eihwaz (ᛇ)
Leela Atlas team · Updated
The yew: steadiness between worlds.
Literal meaning: yew tree · Hagal's aett, the second group of eight
In the old rune poems
The Old English poem describes the yew as rough of bark, firm in the earth, a guardian of fire, held by its roots. Its sound value is uncertain.
Light side
Deep roots and endurance: you can stay steady through change because you know what holds you.
Shadow side
Rigidity that resists every change, or uprootedness that leaves you swaying with every wind.
Drawing Eihwaz in a game of Leela
In Leela Atlas you can draw a card from the Elder Futhark runes when you land on a square. A bridging question links the card to the square, so the card speaks to your own question:
- What roots hold you steady as you face this question?
- What does "Eihwaz" show you about your square?
- If "Eihwaz" were advice for your question, what would it say?
- Where do you meet "Eihwaz" in your life right now?
