The Arousing 震 Zhèn

A shock wakes you up; stay calm inside and learn from it.

Trigrams: Thunder over Thunder

The judgement

Shock arrives like thunder and brings success. Fear gives way to laughter, and the one who stays composed does not spill the sacred cup.

The image

Thunder rolls again and again. In awe and trembling, the noble one sets their life in order and examines themselves.

Light side

A shake-up can wake you up and clear away what was stale.

Shadow side

Being thrown into panic makes you lose your centre and your judgement.

Drawing The Arousing in a game of Leela

In Leela Atlas you can draw a card from the I Ching when you land on a square. A bridging question links the card to the square, so the card speaks to your own question:

• What is this shock trying to wake up in you?
• What does "The Arousing" show you about your square?
• If "The Arousing" were advice for your question, what would it say?
• Where do you meet "The Arousing" in your life right now?
