Darkening of the Light 明夷 Míng Yí

In dark times, keep your inner light safe and shine discreetly.

Trigrams: Earth over Fire

The judgement

The light is wounded and darkness rules. In such times it helps to stay steady and true within, even when you cannot show it outwardly.

The image

The light has sunk into the earth. The noble one, living among many, veils their brightness and yet keeps it shining within.

Light side

Protecting your inner light in a hard time keeps it alive for the dawn.

Shadow side

Hiding too much can turn into losing yourself, or showing too much invites harm.

Drawing Darkening of the Light in a game of Leela

In Leela Atlas you can draw a card from the I Ching when you land on a square. A bridging question links the card to the square, so the card speaks to your own question:

• What inner light do you need to protect quietly right now?
• What does "Darkening of the Light" show you about your square?
• If "Darkening of the Light" were advice for your question, what would it say?
• Where do you meet "Darkening of the Light" in your life right now?
