Before Completion 未濟 Wèi Jì

The goal is near but not reached; proceed with care and clarity.

Trigrams: Fire over Water

The judgement

Before completion, success is still possible. But like a young fox that wets its tail just before reaching the far bank, haste at the end spoils everything.

The image

Fire burns above water, each in the wrong place. The noble one carefully distinguishes things so that each can find its proper place.

Light side

The transition is open; careful steps can bring everything into order.

Shadow side

Rushing the last stretch can undo the whole crossing.

Drawing Before Completion in a game of Leela

In Leela Atlas you can draw a card from the I Ching when you land on a square. A bridging question links the card to the square, so the card speaks to your own question:

• What still needs to find its place before this can be complete?
• What does "Before Completion" show you about your square?
• If "Before Completion" were advice for your question, what would it say?
• Where do you meet "Before Completion" in your life right now?
