# Leela Square 67: Plane of cosmic good (Rudra-loka) Meaning

Square 67 in Leela is the Plane of cosmic good, Rudra-loka in Sanskrit, the abode of Shiva in the eighth row beyond the chakras. Johari describes the good here as cosmic: its essence is truth and its form is beauty. The arrow of Right knowledge from square 45 lands on it, leaving the player one square from Cosmic Consciousness.

## Meaning

In Johari's commentary the right, at this height, becomes cosmic good. It is no longer a rule to follow or a preference of one group; it is the order of the whole. Its essence is truth and its form is beauty, so that what is good, what is true and what is beautiful are seen to be one thing from three sides.

Rudra is an ancient name of Shiva, and Rudra-loka means the world of Rudra. Shiva is the transformer, the one who dissolves what has served its time so that something truer can appear. Square 67 forms, with 68 Vaikuntha-loka of Vishnu and 69 Brahma-loka of Brahma, the divine triad that Johari places side by side in the middle of the top row.

The square has a particular lesson about knowledge. The arrow of Right knowledge from 45 brings the player here, and Johari observes that the player is now one square away from the goal. Yet knowledge stops short: only the arrow of Devotion from 54 lands on 68 itself. Square 67 honours what clear understanding achieves and shows its limit. The last step asks for something beyond knowing, a surrender of the one who knows.

## On the board

A player reaches square 67 by count or by the arrow from square 45, Right knowledge, which rises from the fifth row to the eighth. Square 67 is plain, with no snake and no arrow leaving it. From here only a one reaches 68, Cosmic Consciousness. A two to five carries the symbol past the goal to 69, 70, 71 or 72, and a six cannot be used.

Gita 10.23 is the verse for square 67: among the Rudras Krishna is Shankara. The episode of Arjuna, the Kirata and the Pashupata weapon shows Shiva granting the highest gift only after Arjuna has been tested in both humility and strength.

## Questions

- What would be good for everyone?
- Where do the true, the good and the beautiful already meet in my life?
- What do I understand clearly but have not yet surrendered to?

**What happens when you land on square 67 in Leela?**
Square 67, Plane of cosmic good, is a plain square one step below the goal in count. You need exactly a one to reach Cosmic Consciousness at 68. A two, three, four or five takes you past the goal into 69 to 72. A six cannot be used, since it would carry you beyond the last square.

**Why does Right knowledge lead to 67 and not to 68 in Leela?**
Johari designs the board so that knowledge comes very close to the goal but does not reach it. The arrow of Right knowledge from square 45 stops at 67, one square short. Only the arrow of Spiritual devotion from 54 lands on 68 itself, suggesting that liberation needs surrender as well as understanding.

**What is Rudra-loka in Leela?**
Rudra-loka is the world of Rudra, an ancient name of Shiva. On the Leela board it is square 67, the Plane of cosmic good, and it forms the divine triad with Vishnu's Vaikuntha at 68 and Brahma's world at 69. Johari describes its good as one whose essence is truth and whose form is beauty.
